(Free WIFI Available)
The club house also houses a large game room with pinball machines, foozball, a pool table, and “old fashioned” video games. There is a snack area that features eight flavors of ice cream, locally made frozen pizzas, candy and pop. The fireplace area is usually crowded each evening as adults relate experiences of the day, with a late night snack of ice cream while the kids enjoy a final swim. Free Wi-Fi is available at the lodge building and on the sunning deck and we have a commercial kitchen that larger groups of registered guests can rent to host a gathering in one place.
600 Feet of Shoreline
Lac O’ Seasons has 600 feet of shoreline with beautiful views of Stanley Lake and “ringside” views of spectacular sunsets. The shoreline is dotted with boat docks, however, there is an large “L” shaped dock and floating raft set aside specifically for swimming. There is a small island in the lake that is government property so anyone can enjoy it. It is fun to explore but be careful not to disturb the loon’s nest near the shoreline or the bald eagles’ nest in the tallest pine on the island. The boat landing is a great place to skip rocks with kids or grandkids after the brisk walk there of 1/2 mile plus.
During the winter months the snowmobiles use the lake for a ride or to get to the favorite ice fishing spot. Cross country skiing or snowshoeing on the lake is always a good workout!
Lac O’ Seasons is set in the midst of a hardwood forest and most every cottage is nestled in among the towering trees. In the spring, we are blanketed with forget-me-nots and trilliums. Summer brings the beautiful carpet of ferns under the trees and along the pathways. As you can see above the fall colors are magnificent. Some years the colors almost look flourescent. Our hunters always hope for the first snowfall before they start tracking deer. Once the snow comes it usually stays until spring. Our snow stays white and bright, lighting up the landscape day and night! The full moon on the snow makes you want to take a walk, climb on your snowmobile or grab your skis, even if the temperature is heading down!
Great National Forests
Stanley Lake is located very close to the Ottawa National Forest in Iron County. This national forest covers nearly one million acres and stretches from the Wisconsin border, all the way up to the Southern banks of Lake Superior. This area is abundant with wildlife and a variety of recreational opportunities. Just a short drive away is Ottawa Lake which offers great fishing and access to miles of hiking trails. A slightly longer drive brings you to the Sylvania Wilderness and Recreation Area. Here visitors will find a collection of 34 un-named lakes which offer outstanding experience for those who want to camp, fish, hike, canoe, ski, or enjoy the solitude of a wilderness experience.
Skiing & Snowsports
Ski Brule is one our closest neighbors. The ski area provides great family fun at almost any time of the year. The ski season brings good midwest down hill skiing, cross country skiing and snowboarding. The lodge serves meals, provides daycare and children’s programming. Summertime brings skeet shooting for those interested. With that facility only 5 minutes away, many families take advantage of what Brule has to offer.
Nearly endless snowmobile trails start right around the corner and connect all throughout the Upper Peninsula. Take off right from the resort and within minutes you’ll be enjoying trails west towards Eagle River or head East towards Iron River and beyond. Guests can enjoy hours and days of riding on very well maintained and marked trails and relax in the hot tub at the end of adventurous day.
Iron County provides three golf courses in close proximity. The Iron River Country Club is only about 5 miles from Lac O’ Seasons. This nine hole course is fun for the whole family and being so close the golfers can shoot a round or two without being gone too long! George Young Recreation Complex is located on Chicaugon Lake about 10 miles from us. George Young offers a challenging 18 holes of golf with some beautiful views of Chicaugon Lake. Most people plan to rent a cart as the hills are daunting! However, those same hills make for great cross country skiing during the winter months. Snowmobilers can ride to the complex and stop in at the beautiful dining room/bar in the main building. Last but not least is the Crystal View Golf Course in Crystal Falls, about 20 miles from us. It is another hilly course with beautiful views of the Paint River that flows through Crystal Falls. These hills take a soft touch!
We do have trophy musky, and some tilt the scale at over thirty pounds. There are also large and smallmouth bass as well as perch. Like other lakes in the region, the best fishing is in the spring or early June. The warmer days of summer require fishing in the evening or early morning. Iron County has many miles of trout streams for the fly fisherman. With over 500 lakes in the area a fisherman can find a spot to try for his or her favorite species!
We are on the shores of Stanley which is approximately 1/2 mile wide and 2 1/2 miles long. It is a spring fed lake running generally about 15 feet deep with a deeper channel on our side of the lake going down to 30 feet deep. Part of the lake’s shoreline drops off quickly and part of it is quite gentle so different styles of fishing can be accommodated. We have an excellent boat landing on the northern end of the lake where private boats can be put in.
Boat Rentals & Slips
There are canoes, kayaks, fishing boats, and two pontoon boats available on a rental basis. These are great options to enjoy a beautiful sunny day exploring the lake or to seek out the best fishing hole for a trophy catch
A paddle boat is available free at the beach area on a sign-out-basis. Jet skis are avaliable to rent from a dealer in northern Wisconsin. If you choose to bring your own boat, there are many boat slips free of charge to Lac O’ Seasons guests.
